Content: This is necessary, you need good content to make people want to read your work. Content in laymen's terms is what is written in the article you are writing. Often people will say that it is the person's content that made them return and re-read the article that they wrote. The only way to get great content is to be willing to do some work on your own writing. Sometimes this is not easy; we writers are creatures of habit. We like our work. We often so not want to change it. The truth is we need to change a bit.



Readers or Traffic: When writing an online article ask yourself this question, is this work for my readers or for my traffic? Like content, if the reader is not impressed they will tell others about how bad something is. If you are thinking in terms of "traffic" then your readers are your traffic so your articles need to be for readers.

Do It For The Right Reasons Google and Learning: This is a sort of long-term question, when we write we tend to think of writing an article as something simple that we can put out with ease. Often this is not the case. An online article, especially the how to articles need to be learning articles. Google and all the search engines need to come next. This is not to suggest that writers ignore Google but that they need to focus on getting a good article out there before trying to make money with Google AdSense and other programs.

Short term or Long Term: Online articles should be a foundation to a long-term place where people can find value after coming back a year or more later. The long-term articles that do well are not overly specific nor are they general instructions rather they have value to everyone who reads them or learns how to modify these suggestions towards their own success. Short-term articles tend to have success in the beginning, but over time, the writing may not be as useful. The best is to have a bit of both types of online articles.

Passion or Money: This is a difficult one, but if you can combine your passion and your content, and your money than you are set. Still the best suggestion is to follow your passion and keep on writing online articles, often this is the only way to success.
